Day 14 - Eugene Rafting

Is it just me or do days start earlier in Oregon?

07.00 and we are up & preparing to drive to the upper McKenzie river.

Just about an hours drive & we met Paul our baldy smiley guide. Paul took us in his van to meet Jan & Don our senior citizen companions for our day on the river.

The rapids in the first section were a chilly suprise, the river is fed by snow melt & rarely exceeds 45 degrees ( in old money ) Paul was a fountain of knowledge, He told us
about the history of the river & the changes human contact has made to this lovely region,
Man has managed to stop the resident salmon from returning by destroying their spawning
routes.

Our party stopped for lunch provided by our tour operators, Then we ventured on to the next
set of rapids..

The pace slowed & Ian was able to enjoy a brief ( nut shrinking ) swim with his faithful Hollie at his side.

All too soon we were back at the pull out & we said our goodbyes.

We have had a lazy afternoon by the pool & walked to the Thai restaurant next door where they tried to poison me, with a seafood dish so heavily laced with chilli, that I am still unable to feel my lips 2 hrs on..
